A 26-year-old student of the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos State, Udochukwu Prisca, is in urgent need of N30m to undergo a kidney transplant at the Gbagada General Hospital.
Gifting Volunteer Network, a non-profit group supporting indigent medical patients, in a statement sent to PUNCH Metro, on Tuesday, stated that Prisca, a native of Abia State and a Higher National Diploma programme student, had put her education on hold following a kidney failure diagnosis.
The NGO, in the statement by its founder, David Tamarau-Kuro, disclosed that the ailing undergraduate recounted how her health ordeal began in December 2024. Read more
Pedestrian bridge: Woman remanded for resisting arrest, assaulting officials (Sun)
A female pedestrian, Chidinma Obishe, has been remanded in a correctional facility by a Magistrateโs Court in Bolade, Lagos for allegedly resisting arrest and assaulting Lagos State Task Force officials in Ojota area of the state.
Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab disclosed this in an X post on Wednesday.

US-based lawyer and political figure Owolabi Salis has become the first Nigerian to voyage beyond Earthโs atmosphere.
Salis was one of six private astronauts aboard Blue Originโs NS-33 suborbital mission, which launched from the arid plains of West Texas on June 29, 2025.

The Supreme Court has reserved judgement in the legal tussle on Edo State Governorship Election Petition.
The apex court adjourned the judgement sine die after taking arguments for and against the election that produced Senator Monday Okpebholo as the duly elected governor.
Justice Garba Lawal who presided over hearing of the appeal filed by Asue Ighodalo and the Peopleโs Democratic Party (PDP), said that the date for delivery of the judgement would be communicated to parties involved.
Ighodalo, whose appeal was argued by Ken Mosia, SAN, prayed the Supreme Court to remove Okpebholo and pronounced him as winner of the election. Read more
Fraud: I was desperate to succeed, convicted Nigerian tells US court (Punch)
A Nigerian, Onomen Uduebor, who was sentenced by a United States District Court on Monday to three years and four months in prison for his role in a $140,000 tax refund fraud, said he participated in the scheme because he was desperate to succeed in his music career.
PUNCH Metro gathered information from a statement obtained from the website of the US Department of Justice on Tuesday that Uduebor was extradited from the United Kingdom following his indictment for tax refund fraud.
According to the statement, the 39-year-old convict had, between 2016 and 2017, alongside other conspirators, filed false tax returns by using a fraudulent email to message the Human Resources Department of various US companies to request employee details. Read more

Members from Niger and Kwara states on Wednesday informed the House of Representatives that over 600 persons declared missing in the recent Mokwa flood disaster in Niger State are presumed dead.
In a motion of urgent public importance jointly sponsored by Hon. Joshua Audu Gana (Niger) and Hon. Saba Ahmed Umaru (Kwara), the lawmakers raised the alarm over the scale of devastation caused by the late May 2025 floods that swept through Mokwa and parts of Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
According to the lawmakers, the flood, triggered by torrential rainfall on May 28 and 29, was further worsened by the collapse of an old railway embankment, which allowed water to inundate key areas of Mokwa, including commercial centres like Tiffin Maza and Anguwan Hausawa. Read more

North Korea has opened a massive “world-class cultural resort” on its eastern coast, state media said on Wednesday.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) shared images of tourists enjoying the beach in swimwear as the tourist zone opened to domestic visitors on Tuesday.
“The guests’ hearts were filled with overwhelming emotion as they felt the astonishing new heights of our-style tourism culture blossoming under the era of the Workers’ Party,” KCNA said.
