A state of emergency has been declared by the governor of California as wildfires sweep through the suburbs of Los Angeles – with a hillside dotted with celebrity homes badly affected.
Nearly 300,000 people have been left without power across California after the rapid spread of wildfires.
Officials warned that strong winds would increase the chance of trees being knocked over, which in turn could disrupt power lines.
According to PowerOutage.us, a tracking site, 298,382 people are without power.
As we’re reporting, three fires are burning in the suburbs of Los Angeles.
The Eaton wildfire, burning in the San Gabriel Mountains above Pasadena, has grown to an estimated 1,000 acres, Angeles National Forest says.
The fire started near a nature preserve at around 6.30pm local time (2.30am UK time). The Los Angeles County Fire Department says the Pacific Palisades fire has so far burned through nearly 3,000 acres. (Skynews)
