67-year-old Lagos landlord allegedly defiles, impregnates minor (Punch)
Contrary to her wish, Glory (pseudonym) has assumed motherhood at 14 when her peers are schooling.
The primary five pupil was allegedly defiled by a 67-year-old landlord on Legacy Road, Ayobo, Lagos State, one Sanni Arowolo aka Matagbamole.
It was learnt that Glory’s aunt, identified simply as Bose, had rented a shop from Arowolo where she sold beans. Read more
Security guard, friends nabbed for stealing generator (Punch)
A security guard in the Balogun area of Surulere, Lagos, and two of his friends have been arrested for stealing a generator.
It was gathered that the guard, who also sells sachet water, went to the home of his supplier on the pretext of buying bags of the product.
An eyewitness, who identified himself simply as Michael, told PUNCH Metro that the guard thought that the woman was not at home after repeatedly knocking on her door without response, he called friends. Read more
3 Okada robbers arrested in Lagos (PMNews)
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, have arrested three suspected okada robbers in Ikorodu area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
The suspects, Emmanuel Michael, 24, who rode on a motorcyle, in company of two other accomplices; Moses Ogeh, 27 and Ojonugwa Ojomeje, 29, were arrested in Ita-Maga area of Ikorodu after hijacking a motor bike popularly called ‘okada’ from a cyclist while impersonating police officers.
Two of the suspects: Ojomeje and Ogeh were caught in MOPOL vest and police vest and fez cap while trying to escape after collecting an ‘okada’ from a rider in Ikorodu. Read more
Robbers behead policeman, guard in fuel station attack (Punch)
Some armed robbers late on Saturday attacked the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation mega station in the Asa Dam area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The robbers were said to have during their operation beheaded a police sergeant and a security man at the station.
Our correspondent gathered that the men of the underworld struck when the workers of the station had left for their respective homes. Read more
28-year-old man docked for defrauding job seekers (PMNews)
A 28-year-old human resources personnel, Nelly Kalu, who allegedly defrauded five job seekers of N1.32 million on the pretext of securing jobs for them, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates Court.
The defendant, whose residential address was not given, is facing a six-count-charge bordering on stealing and obtaining money under false pretences.
The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Adetutu Sanusi said the defendant allegedly obtained N1.32 million from the complainants: Mr. Temitayo Olorunsola, Friday Agada, Oluwaseun Adeshola, Babatunde Ayoola and Henry Agboge with an assurance of getting them jobs at Honeywell Flour Mill, a representation he knew to be false. Man steals brother-in-law’s police vest, cap for robbery (Punch)
Operatives of the Rapid Respond Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a motorcyclist, Emmanuel Michael, for allegedly stealing his brother-in-law’s police vest and fez-cap to hijack a motorcycle in the Ita-Maga area of Ikorodu.
It was gathered that the 24-year-old Michael and his accomplices, Moses Ogeh and Ojonugwa Ojomeje, who posed as policemen, hijacked a motorcycle from the rider.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects accosted the motorcyclist around 10pm and dispossessed him of his motorcycle by claiming to be policemen from a nearby station. Read more
Four notorious Lagos ‘cultists’ arrested in Ogun (Nation)
The police in Ogun State have arrested four suspected Eiye cult members declared wanted in Lagos State.
Owolabi Rasaq, 28, Chidi Michael alias Chiboy, 26, Sunday Adetiba, 30, and Idris Jimoh, 27, were said to have participated in several violent cult clashes in Lagos that left many killed.
They were arrested on October 8, at Ogijo during a night meeting alleged to have been on plans to execute another attack.
It was gathered that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ogijo Suleman Mohammed, a Chief Superintendent (CSP), had received information about the gathering of cultists and stormed the hideout with his men. Read more
Bizman docked for allegedly defrauding Flour Mills (Sun)
A businessman, Ola Lawal, aka Lawal Roland, was yesterday arraigned before the Federal High Court, Lagos, for allegedly defrauding Flour Mill Plc to the tune of N46 million.
Lawal was docked alongside his company, DCAN Oil and Gas Limited before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Lawal and his company were arraigned before Justice Chuka Obiozor on two counts charge of fraudulent transfer of the same sum from the Flour Mills’ account to his firm’s account. Read more
Seven escape death as bus driving against traffic rams into another on highway (Guardian)
It was a close shave with death at Toyota bus stop on Oshodi-Apapa expressway yesterday after seven persons including a driver and his conductor were injured as two commercial buses, popularly known as Danfo, collided against each other in Lagos.
A commercial bus with registration number LSR221BB, rammed into a 14-seater bus with plate number XP610KSF, just opposite Rutam House, head office of The Guardian newspaper, leaving a man and a woman severely injured.
The driver, who drove against traffic on the expressway, fled the scene as soon as the accident occurred, along with his conductor. Driver of the damaged bus, Mr. Tony Maxwell, who was in shock over the incident, said: “I have been driving for almost 20 years, I have never experienced a thing like this. The bus taking one-way was coming at me on top speed…” Read more
Six illegal immigrants arrested at Nigeria border (Guardian)
The operatives of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service have arrested six illegal migrants at Idiroko borders in the state.
“When you aid unknown people into your country, without even knowing their aim, it is a big risk,” the comptroller of immigration, Doris Braimah said on Tuesday while parading the suspects.
“It is actually called security threat.”
The illegal immigrants were being smuggled in by two Nigerians through one of the country’s major borders in the state when the officers intercepted them. Read more
