INTERPOL hands over “Killaboi” to Lagos State Police Command (TVC)

It’s been a long time coming for the umuahia born Ben Nnayereugo

He has been on the run for 2 years after he allegedly killed his then 21-year-old girlfriend Augusta Oseodion at his residence at Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos, on July 13, 2023.

Augusta was a first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan.

Since then he’s been a fugitive travelling from Sierra Leone where he was arrested and escaped to the Philippines from there to Guinea conakry from where he obtained another passport and with that passport he got into Doha, Qatar where he settled as a barber. (Read more)

Stray bullet kills teen at Lagos anti-cultism walk (Punch)

Tragedy struck on Monday when a 16-year-old boy, identified simply as Mustapha, was killed by a stray bullet during a suspected cult clash in the Oyingbo area of Ebute Metta, Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the incident occurred during a peace walk organised by some youths to address rising cult-related violence in the community.

It was gathered that the walk had just concluded when an argument broke out among them. (Read more)

Peter Obi’s ‘poster boy’ arrested for alleged crimes– Police (Guardian)

The Police Command in Lagos State says Peter Obi’s poster boy was remanded for committing various offences in the Amukoko area of the state.

The boy, 18, became popular during the 2023 presidential election for standing in front of the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi’s convoy.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, made the clarification in a statement on Saturday in Lagos. Hundeyin said that the suspect was involved in violent attacks and public disturbance. He said the boy caused extensive damage to public and private property and injured persons standing by in the Amukoko area. (Read more)

Court jails 43-year-old for illegal cannabis possession (Punch)

A 43-year-old man, Oluwole Johnson, was on Tuesday sentenced to two years imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Lagos for illegal possession of two kilograms of a special strain of cannabis known as “Loud.”

Justice Akintayo Aluko handed down the sentence after Johnson pleaded guilty to a one-count charge brought against him by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

The NDLEA prosecutor, J.E. Negedu, told the court that Johnson was arrested on February 8, 2025, at Lake View Estate, Phase 1, Ago Palace Way, Lagos, while trading in the banned substance. (Read more)

Police arrest 2 suspected vandals in Lagos, recover operational tools (Vanguard)

Operatives of the Isokoko Police Division have arrested two suspected vandals who were caught dismantling concrete barriers at Ile-Zik along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway following a swift response to credible intelligence.


The suspects, identified as Peter James, 26, and Lesipi Adamu, 24, both of no fixed address, were apprehended at about 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, while allegedly removing iron rods embedded in government-installed barriers. According to the police, the suspects were caught red-handed, while several accomplices reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived.


Vanguard gathered that tools believed to have been used in the illegal operation, including two sledgehammers, two cutting saws, and a pair of scissors, were recovered from the suspects. (Read more)

Panic as beheaded body found in Lagos (Punch)

Tension gripped the Idimu area of Lagos State on Sunday after residents discovered the bodies of two men, one of which was beheaded.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the killings occurred late Saturday night, but the corpses were only discovered on Sunday morning along Oladun Road.

When our correspondent visited the scene, the lifeless bodies were still lying several meters apart. (Read more)

Man jailed 14 years for attempted sexual assault (Nation)

Justice Rahman Oshodi of an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in ikeja has sentenced a man, Nnanna Daniel, to 14 years imprisonment for attempt to commit sexual assault by penetration of a 13-year -old girl.

Justice Oshodi convicted and sentenced Daniel after he pleaded guilty to an amended one-count charge bordering on sexual assault by penetration.

The defendant was initially arraigned on a charge of defilement on July 27, 2021 and he pleaded not guilty. Read more
