Love is not easy. I totally agree with you on this. It takes a lot of maturity, sacrifice and a good heart to continue to show a lot of understanding when all seems not to be right from your spouse and it is affecting the dynamics of your relationship. When we marry we have a l9t of expectations. It takes a kind heart and a sacrificial heart to keep holding on and trusting God. People generally can be selfish …if you however have a spouse who acknowledges the problem affecting your marriage and keeps encouraging you that things will be better it is good to stay by such partner. For example if you married a widower who you later realise has a son who is going through addiction and was in rehabilitation when you came in but when he got back from rehabilitation he went back and this is affecting the dynamics of your marriage because your husband is not happy. As a spouse you have supported and still supporting and encouraging him…but in all it has affected a part of your marriage. What can one do but to keep being hopeful. Marriage is indeed tough. I trust God to see me through this . I was in one for about 15 years. I waited on God for 12 years before getting into this. Despite that this is where I am now. I am determined to stay through and give all the necessary support while trusting God that this will.pass and we will be happy again. Marriage and love is definitely not easy and not a fairy tale.
