Megan Rapinoe backs booing of FIFA and Gianni Infantino by World Cup fans (Metro)

Megan Rapinoe has backed the booing of FIFA and its president Gianni Infantino after the USA secured back-to-back World Cups.

Goals from Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle saw USA beat the Netherlands and become World Champions for the fourth time in their history.

Rapinoe has been a vocal critic of FIFA and Infantino, accusing football’s governing body of not caring about women’s football after scheduling the Gold Cup and Copa America finals on the same day as the World Cup final.

Infantino and his FIFA officials got a hostile reception from the Parc Olympique Lyonnais crowd on Sunday after the final and Rapinoe praised the support from the fans for the women’s game. Read more
