20 dead in Benue boat accident (Nation)
Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has condoled with families of victims of the boat that mishap at the Buruku crossing point of River Katsina-Ala on Wednesday night. Eyewitnesses said 20 persons died in the boat, which left Logo at 8 p.m and capsized on the Buruku side of the river. The Chairman of Ugonduzua branch of Benue Motorcycle Association Mr Felix Ikyaajime said the association lost 17 members. Read more

The remains of the late Mr. Clifford Cassidy, will be buried tomorrow at Oteri, Ughelli North, Delta State. In a statement by the family, funeral rites began on Thursday, with a Novelty Match at Ughelli General Field. A Service of Songs followed today, at the Cassidy family compound, Isoko Road, about 4 pm. The late footballer will be laid in state at the general field tomorrow, and later buried at Oteri in Ughelli. Lecturer remanded for alleged rape, murder (Nation)
A Magistrates’ Court in Benue State has remanded a 51-year-old senior lecturer in the Department of Catering and Hotel Management, Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, Mr. Andrew Ogbuja, at the Federal Prison, Makurdi. He was charged with criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. The lecturer was accused of defiling Elizabeth Ochanya Ogbanje, a 13-year-old pupil of the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Gboko, Benue State. Read more
