The recently suspended nine-month strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities has divided officials of the National Association of Nigerian Students.
The PUNCH had earlier reported that ASUU National President, Biodun Ogunyemi, on Wednesday in Abuja, โconditionallyโ suspended its nine-month strike after a lot of foot-dragging in negotiations by the Federal Government and the lecturers.
After suspending the strike, NANS President, Sunday Asefon, in an exclusive interview with The PUNCH, said its members would embark on a mass protest should ASUU resume its just suspended strike.
But the Public Relations Officer of NANS Zone D, Kazeem Israel, disagreed with the NANS president over his reaction to the suspended strike, saying, โFederal Government must meet all agreements with ASUU or face the wrath of Nigerian students.โ
Israel said this in a statement titled, โThreat to ASUU by NANS president; a clear misrepresentation of the interests of Nigerian students!โ (Punch)
