In a dramatic turn of events echoing a gripping action movie plot, Nigerian police have rescued 10 kidnapped victims along the perilous Funtua-Gusau highway, sending suspected bandits fleeing with bullet wounds after a fierce gun battle.

The swift response by officers from the Faskari Division in Katsina State on April 19th not only secured the freedom of two drivers and eight passengers but also highlights the ongoing efforts to combat the scourge of kidnapping.

Adding to this victory, authorities in Taraba State apprehended a long-sought “notorious criminal,” Umar Ahmad, leading to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, one shockingly belonging to the state command and previously stolen in a 2023 ambush that claimed the life of an ASP.

Meanwhile, in Anambra State, separate operations yielded further successes. Police intercepted a suspicious shuttle bus in Onitsha, uncovering five concealed pump-action guns, cartridges and handcuffs.
