16-year-old Luke Matheson is in school today, even though he has been offered a day off, after scoring for Rochdale against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

The teenager cancelled out Mason Greenwood’s opener with 14 minutes to go and took the game to penalties, with United booking their place in the fourth round with a 5-3 win from the spot.

However, the headlines belonged to Matheson, who became Rochdale’s youngest ever debutant when he played for the first team at just 15 years and 336 days last September.
