Our lives in ruins, mothers of 5 children found dead in abandoned vehicle lament (Nation)

May 4, 2025 was a black Sunday for residents of Agyaragu community of Obi Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. It was the fateful day that five children aged between four and seven years and belonging to three different parents got missing in mysterious circumstances only to be found dead in a vehicle that had been abandoned for more than 10 years.

The affected families were those of Mrs Bridget Iormagh, Mrs Ifeoma Mnaji and Mrs Ukeria Onah, staying in different compounds in the same neighbourhood. While 49 years old Iormagh lost her only daughter, five-year-old Eunice, Mnaji, whose husband died only recently lost her only two daughters seven-year-old Mesoma and four-year-old Chidinma, and Onah also lost her two daughters Kamsi (5) and Soma (3).

Looking frail and fatigued, Mrs Mnaji betrayed emotions as she spoke with our correspondent who visited the community to get first hand information about the circumstances surrounding the death of the five children. Read more 

Court grants Mohbad’s father permission to challenge Naira Marley’s freedom (Guardian)

The Lagos High Court in Ikeja has granted Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, permission to challenge the legal advice issued by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), which cleared Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and two others of involvement in his son’s death.

The court, presided over by Justice Taiwo Olatokun, also approved Aloba’s request to serve the motion for judicial review on Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN).

According to Aloba’s lawyer, Wahab Shittu (SAN), the motion seeks to quash both the DPP’s legal advice and the Yaba Magistrate Court’s decision, delivered by Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje, which discharged Naira Marley (real name Abdulazeez Fashola), Samson Balogun Eletu (Sam Larry), Owoduni Ibrahim (Prime Boy), and Pere Babatunde. Supreme Court orders Fred Ajudua back to prison, overturns bail ruling (Channels)

The Supreme Court has overturned a decision of the Court of Appeal which granted bail to Lagos businessman and former socialite, Fred Ajudua, who is standing trial for allegedly defrauding a German company of $1 million over three decades ago.

In a unanimous ruling on Friday, the apex court held that the Appeal Court erred in granting bail and ordered Ajudua’s return to correctional custody.

The court also directed trial judge, Justice Mojisola Dada, of the Lagos State High Court, to resume hearing of the criminal case. Read more

Crisis is brewing within the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the July 12 local government elections, as many chairmanship aspirants and party leaders have kicked against what they described as a plot to impose candidates.

South Africa has criticised the US as reports emerge suggesting Washington could receive white Afrikaners as refugees as early as next week.

A document seen by the BBC’s US partner CBS describes the potential resettlement as a “priority” for President Donald Trump’s government, however the timing has not been publicly confirmed by the White House.

Clairo cancels Primavera Sound 2025 set due to “logistical issues” (NME)

Clairo has announced that she will be unable to play at this year’s Primavera Sound in Barcelona due to “logistical issues”.

The artist had been due to play the festival on Saturday June 6, sharing the bill that day with Sabrina Carpenter, HAIM, Beach House, TV On The Radio, Wet Leg and others. The Parc Del Fòrum bash will see its other days headlined by Charli XCX and Chappell Roan.

Pakistan’s armed forces said they hit back at India, targeting military sites, after India fired missiles at three of its air bases in a frightening escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

India had earlier targeted the three air bases inside Pakistan with missiles, most of which were intercepted, on Saturday, Pakistani military officials said.
