“Finally, hand don touch am,” as we say in naija.
The news about Bobrisky, aka Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, being caught, charged and sentenced to six months in jail by a Lagos High Court over mutilating the naira, shocked me.
A few months back, a popular actress, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyi was also convicted and sentenced to six months imprisonment for stepping on the new naira notes at a social event in Lagos. This should have been enough deterrent, especially to the likes of Bobrisky who are forever on social media promoting one idea or another.
Granted, we have all been informed that battered as the naira is, it is no excuse for anyone to mutilate it in any form, be it spraying at parties, something many Nigerians are still guilty of; stepping on it, a because post-spraying people will step on it on the dance floor…squeezing, whatever form it takes, shoving it down your pants or bra for that matter, if you are caught…you will go to jail.
Anyway, Bobrisky was caught…pants down or is it G-strings down as it seems and he has been sent to jail. The sad part is, he was not given an option of a fine. That’s when the expression came to mind, “Hand don touch Bobrisky.”
Someone, somewhere nailed SHIM!
I see people on X “shouting,” this is a witch hunt, for shekere thing like naira mutilation? Why jail Bobrisky without option of a fine?
The real travesty, I think, is the fact that Bobrisky is at risk of being re-identified.
The good judge had asked Bobrisky before the sentencing, if he was male or female…as in to know where to throw SHIM.
Bobrisky said he is male.
Well, Bob’s your uncle!
So, now there’s a lot less confusion for me as to where Bobrisky will be going to cool his heels for the next few months.
He will be in the male section where all manner of errmm…people are kept.
He will be shorn of the comforts he has gotten used to.
Gone will be all the makeup and skin creams.
Gone will be all the fancy long dresses and hijabs some of us eye on social media
Gone will be the well lacquered false nails and red pouty lips.
Gone with the wind will be his wigs.
Gone will be the shape wear…
I hate to imagine what lies beneath.

Bobrisky, finally owning up to his gender and roughing it out with male inmates…
What will they do to him?
Better not to think that far.
I hope as much as he has enemies in high places, he has friends in higher places because holding him in a male cell is very Bob-risky.
He may have entered jail as Bobrisky, I hope he comes out the same…or there just might be no difference, really. He is a man cavorting with men, after all. So there you have it.
Bobrisky is in RISKY hands!
