Woman allegedly impersonates CLAM founder, defrauds church member (Punch)

A 28-year-old woman, Immaculate Okonkwo, has been arraigned before the Ogba Magistrates’ Court for allegedly impersonating the Senior Pastor of Christ Livingspring Apostolic Ministry (CLAM) and defrauding a church member.

Punch Metro gathered that some Internet fraud syndicates had created false social media accounts for the Senior Pastor, Wole Oladiyun.

It was learnt that the syndicates had used the accounts to defraud some church members, obtaining money from them and using different bank account numbers. Read more

Lawyer arraigned for allegedly forging court judgment (Guardian)

A lawyer, Edward Oseghale, arrested by the police at the premises of Surulere Magistrates Court for allegedly forging a court judgment has been arraigned.

Oseghale was arraigned before Magistrate Court presided over by Magistrate O.A Ojo, sitting in Ikeja, for procuring false judgment and using it to evict tenants from their homes.

He pleaded not guilty to the five-count charge bordering on forgery, and was granted bail in the sum of N50,000. Read more

Command arrests ex-Emzor worker who sold codeine to BBC (Punch)

A former employee of Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, Chukwunonye Madubuike, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for alleged indiscriminate distribution of controlled substance (codeine) in Lagos State.

It was learnt that Madubuike, who reportedly sold the illegal substance to a British Broadcasting Corporation’s undercover investigator, Adejuwon Soyinka, had been on the run since the news of the transaction broke.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, on Wednesday, said the suspect, who wanted to escape to Cotonou, Benin Republic, was arrested in the Idiroko border town of Ogun State. Read more

EFCC arraigns ‘yahoo boy’ in Lagos (Punch)

A 25-year-old man, Samson Olujobi, was on Wednesday arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on two charges bordering on engaging in computer phishing and fraudulent possession of the sum of 400 dollars.

Olujobi was arraigned before Justice Chuka Obiozor of the Federal High Court, in Lagos.

The accused, who was not represented by a lawyer, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. Read more

ICYMI: Auditor accused of embezzling N3.8m says it’s for her upkeep (Punch)

A 47-year-old woman, Grace Cole, has been arrested by the police for allegedly embezzling funds belonging to the company she works for.

Punch Metro gathered that Cole was employed by Rab Oil Nigeria Limited as an auditor in 2011.

It was learnt that in 2017, after an external auditing of the company’s branch offices, some amount of money was discovered missing. Read more
