A Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan on Friday dissolved the three-year-old marriage between Chidi Ngwu and his estranged wife, Taiwo, on the grounds of her troublesomeness and behavioral disorder.
Delivering judgment, the court’s President, Mrs S.M. Akintayo, held that Ngwu and Taiwo were free to go their separate ways since he was no longer interested in their union.
Akintayo, however, noted that the union between the two could not be described as a husband and wife relationship because it was not a valid customary marriage. Read more
EFCC arraigns MD over $680k fraud in Lagos (Punch)
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned the Managing Director of Sunsteel, Olalekan Adewoye, on Thursday over alleged $680,622.65 fraud in Lagos.
Adewoye was arraigned by the EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos State High Court, sitting in Ikeja, Lagos.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the agency on X on Friday, stating that the MD was arraigned alongside his companies, Sunlek Investments Limited and Sunsteel Industries Limited, on a two-count charge, bordering on alleged stealing and obtaining property by false pretence to the tune of $680,622.65. 2025 UTME: 41,027 underage candidates registered, 467 passed, 50 caught cheating (Sun)
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), on Friday, provided details of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results it released earlier in the week.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, at a press conference in Abuja, noted that as earlier approved by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, opportunity was provided for underage candidates (16 years and below) to showcase their academic abilities.
He also recalled that at the last Policy Meeting of the admission policy of the Board, stakeholders resolved to implement the prescribed 16-year minimum age for entry into tertiary institutions, and to raise it to 18 years from 2025, but the Minister on resumption of office upheld the 16-year minimum entry age but halted the implementation of the proposal to raise it to 18 years from 2025. Court grants EeZeeTee ₦20m bail (Nation)
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos has granted ₦20 million bail to music producer and former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, Ezekiel Onyedikachi, popularly known as EeZeeTee, over a fresh $255,000 foreign transaction fraud allegation filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a brief ruling on Friday, Justice Aneke ruled that the bail must be secured with one surety who resides in Lagos and owns property equivalent in value to the bail amount. The judge, who had earlier released EeZeeTee to his lawyer, Ojukwu Chikaosolu, gave the defendant 72 hours to meet the terms.
The EFCC originally filed a 14-count charge against EeZeeTee for allegedly converting funds fraudulently but later reduced the charges to seven, accusing him of conducting forex transactions without a valid license. Read more
Police nab 78 suspects, recover weapons, drugs (Vanguard)
The Kano State Police Command on Friday, said it arrested 78 suspects and recovered a substantial quantity of weapons, illicit drugs and stolen properties across the state.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Dr Ibrahim Bakori made the disclosure at a news conference at Bompai Kano Police Headquarters.

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has disbursed over N600 million to residents of Bulbula and Gayawa who were affected by the ongoing Erosion Control Project.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, Governor Yusuf said the disbursement was organized by the Kano State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (Kano-ACReSAL), under the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
