Father allegedly rapes three daughters, attacks wife (Punch)
A distraught mother, Tope Ogba, on Monday, explained to a Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja, how her husband, Gabriel Ogba, allegedly raped their two adult daughters and their 13-year-old sister.
Gabriel is standing trial for sexually molesting his daughters aged 25 and 20 years, and their underage sister at their residence in Oke-Ogbe town, Atura bus stop, Badagry, Lagos, and almost setting ablaze his wife when she reported him to the authorities.
Tope, while being led in evidence by the state counsel, K. A. Momoh-Ayokanbi, said she did not notice the sexual molestation, which according to her, had gone on for a number of years until it was revealed by the youngest daughter. Read more
Four men in court for stealing N30m gold jewellery (Nation)
The police on Thursday arraigned four men, who allegedly broke into a house and stole gold jewellery worth N30 million before Chief Magistrate, Yewande Aje-Afunwa of an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The police charged Friday Daniel, 20 and Ojo Otiozuama, 20, who were housekeepers to the complainant Mrs Vivian Ologbosere, with three counts of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
The police also charged Zubairu Saidu, 43 and Kabiru Isiaka, 30, with with receiving stolen goods. Read more
Man docked over theft of N126.8m swamp buggy (Vanguard)
A 36-year-old man, Samuel Okon, who allegedly stole a swamp buggy worth N126,800,000, was Wednesday arraigned before a Lagos Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Igbosere. Okon was charged before the court by the Force Intelligence Bureau, FIB, Force Headquar-ters, Obalende, Lagos.
The defendant is facing a three count charge of conspiracy, stealing and obstruction of policemen on lawful duty, preferred against him by the Police. The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Mameh, told the court that the offences were committed on December 31, 2016 at May Fair Garden, Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State.
He said Okon was hired by Black Apple Ltd, Lekki, to carry out excavation work at Lekki with the Swamp Buggy. Read more
11-year-old boy remanded for allegedly throwing toddler in a well (Punch)
An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, in Lagos State, on Monday ordered that an 11-year-old boy, who allegedly threw a one-year-old in a well, be remanded in a Special Correction Centre for boys in Oregun, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The police charged the boy with murder.
Chief Magistrate Adeola Adedayo, who gave the order, adjourned the case until March 6, for the DPP advice. Read more
Warehouse keepers, marketer charged with N156m fraud (Nation)
Two shopkeepers and a marketer, who allegedly defrauded a motorcycle company of N156million, were Thursday brought before an Igbosere Chief Magistrates Court in Lagos.
The defendants are: warehouse keepers Adebayo Gbadebo, 40, of 2, Kojumole Street, Opa, Ile-Ife, Osun State; Adebambo Aderemi, 36, of Prince Momoh Street, Igando, Lagos and marketer Kareem Lukman, 36, of Lagos Island.
They were arraigned by the Zone II Police Command before Chief Magistrate Afolashade Botoku on a four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, fraud and forgery. Read more
Woman charged with defrauding cleric of N10m (Nation)
A 35-year-old woman, Grace Ahmed, was on Wednesday brought before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining N10 million under false pretence from a cleric.
Ahmed is charged with three counts of conspiracy, obtaining under false pretence and stealing.

Court remands teacher for sexually assaulting nine pupils (Punch)
An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has ordered a 40-year-old lesson teacher, Faruk Adam, to be remanded in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting nine of his pupils pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
Adam, whose plea was not taken on Tuesday, is standing trial on nine counts bordering on alleged sexual assault on nine of his pupils.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Peace Chukwudi, said the defendant committed the offences between November 2018 and February 2019 at No. 1 Jaiye Balogun Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos. Read more
Church worker, 32, defiles girl, 6 (Nation)
An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 32-year-old church worker, Joseph Chidi, in prison, following his arraignment for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl.
Magistrate P. E. Nwaka said he would remain in Kirikiri Prisons until the court receives Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution’s (DPP’s) advice on the case.

Woman stabs to death cleric who attempted to rape her (Punch)
A woman, Gift Daniel, has been arrested by the police for allegedly stabbing to death a 52-year-old cleric, Taofeek Olumoro, who allegedly tried to rape her.
Punch Metro gathered that the 25-year-old Daniel had gone to visit her boyfriend at No. 3 Bajulaiye Street, Fadeyi, Lagos but reportedly met his absence.
The deceased, popularly called ‘Alfa’, who was a neighbour to the suspect’s boyfriend, had invited her into his room to wait for the boyfriend. Read more
Suspected cultists face theft charge (Nation)
Seven men suspected to be members of a cult on Wednesday appeared at a Badagry Magistrates’ Court for alleged stealing, weapons display and breach of the peace.
Ojo Jimoh, 27, Taiwo Jimoh, 21, Hammed Adebayo, 22, Adeniyi Abass, 18, Michael Segun, 18, and two minors were said to have conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace on February 24 at Shibiri, Ajangbadi, Lagos.

Teenager remanded for armed robbery in Lagos (Punch)
An 18-year-old motorcyclist, Sodiq Adedeji, who allegedly attacked a man, Lanre Shoremi, with a knife and robbed him of his motorcycle, has been remanded in the Kirikiri Prison on the order of an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The presiding magistrate, Mr A. A. Fashola, remanded the defendant in prison pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
Fashola adjourned the case till March 20, 2019, for advice by the DPP. Read more
Driver damages N26.7m G-Wagon (Nation)
A 27-year-old bank driver, Nureni Olawale, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court for allegedly driving recklessly and damaging a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) worth N26.7 million.
He is standing trial on a five-count charge of reckless driving, causing bodily harm, unlawful damage and obstruction.
Prosecuting Inspector Mawari Solomon alleged that the defendant committed the offence on February 16 at 6:30am, on Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos. Read more
